As many of you know from the extensive advertising campaign, The Grind is officially hosting its grand re-opening today. Fortunately, The Freudian Slip has managed to use its funding to sponsor the opening of the bar, aptly named “The Freudian Sip”. The Slip has graciously used its massive budget in its entirety to fund the bar and its provisions. All beverages you receive from the bar will have been provided courtesy of The Slip. We have consulted closely with Clark’s own Student Government as well as the administration to ensure that the opening be as special as possible, complete with live music, as well as readings of our most popular articles courtesy of The Freudian Slip. As you will soon see, the bar is expertly stained and varnished to perfection, courtesy of a master carpenter hired by The Slip.

Additionally, all furniture at the bar is sourced from only the best trees taken from Clark’s very own green. The Freudian Slip personally oversaw all steps of the furnishing of the bar, to ensure that only the best experience be brought to our student body. The Slip also were closely involved with the purchase of all of the alcohol being provided, and used much of the budget to get only the best liquor. Portions of the profits during the grand re-opening will be used to fight the legal battle to regain control of our domain, which unfortunately was taken by a “xXSquirrelLover123Xx” (if anyone has information on the identity of this person please contact us immediately). The Slip has purchased enough alcohol to last the rest of the semester, and will continue to fund and maintain the bar.

We hope that you enjoy the newly renovated Grind and its various amenities, and don’t forget to have fun (Courtesy of The Freudian Slip)!

Hipster Quote of the Week:

The message at the end of “The Tortoise and the Hare” isn’t that ‘slow and steady wins the race’, but actually a well-remembered quote from the 1977 Disney classic “A New Hope”: “Great kid! Don’t get cocky”. Bullshit that the hare was gonna lose that race if he didn’t choose to stop for a nap and a snack and whatever else he did. Bullshit that the tortoise was going to catch up in any capacity if the hare didn’t slow down for him. Maybe that platitude makes sense, but definitely not in this situation.

A race is a sheer contest of speed. No other skills go into that. The tortoise and the hare aren’t making miniature wooden horses and getting judged on the craftsmanship of their products alongside their finish time; they are moving from one point to another. In no universe does slow and steady win that race. Slow and steady wins no races, except for races where the point is to go as slow as possible. Even in cases where slow and steady could be considered a possible alternative to fast, such as the aforementioned miniature-wooden-horse-making competition, someone who can do similar quality work at a much faster pace still wins that competition.

Slow and steady does not win the race. Not being too full of yourself does.."
